My name's Mellissa and I am proud to bring you Edney Products and my blog ‘The Thinking Mumma’.
As the mother of two boys who have certain mental ‘quirks’ (Auditory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia, Autism, Anxiety & ADHD to name but a few), life is a definite balancing act as we race from work, to appointments with school & specialists etc. while trying very hard to maintain any kind of parental sanity!
I have been continually asked how do I manage to balance everything so I decided to blog about day to day life in the Edney Household.
What I have found during this parenthood journey so far is that my kids seem to be a lot more balanced and happier when they go back to basics in terms of food, skincare, drink and environment. On the other hand, there are certain things that my kids react very badly to - does anyone else see problems with synthetic food colouring or parabens etc.? I’m sure you’re out there too!
Simply trying to find products without those ingredients has been a major challenge and seeing products supposedly based on nature with massive ingredient lists filled with undecipherable names was infuriating.
To counteract this, I started reading ingredients labels, and researching into what each item listed was. Quite frankly, some of the items aren’t great and I don’t want to have them near my kids, let alone on them so I started making our own version of decongestant rub and soaps etc, resulting in Edney Skincare.
I’m continually on the hunt for things that can make my family life more filled with love and happiness. I know that there are so many others out there with the same goal and very similar struggles so I’m taking on this challenge for you too.
Dr Libby and Dr Josh Axe have been massive influences in my research, and I have found that their ethos of going back to nature for remedies and providing a sanctuary at home has worked wonders for my family. To incorporate natures power, we use the principles of Ayurveda and Holistic Healing as a basis for our Edney Skincare range and strip out as much non-essential junk as possible.
If having something as simple as safe moisturizer, decongestant rub or soaps without the junk in it makes your life happier or easier, then you’ve come to the right place. You can rest safely with the knowledge that Edney Skincare has a mum just like you behind it who simply will not include anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. I use everything that I create on my own kids and it must be as safe as possible. Because of this our skincare only includes the purest ingredients combined with Eco-cert approved preservatives and emulsifiers.
Life can be hard, but I’ll happily support you in your journey as part of my own. I don’t promise to have all the answers but I’m a great listener 😊
